The perspective of Taoism is of interest here, and the principle of polarity, rather than opposition or conflict, which lies deep in Chinese thought. The Christian metaphor, for example, of war between light and darkness, between good and evil, positive and negative, and so on, and the desire to achieve victory for the former over the latter, is incomprehensible to Chinese thinking. Instead, polarity is seen as different aspects of the same system, and to remove one of them would destroy the system. Thus dealing with life is more to do with navigating the currents than declaring war on any of them, more to do with with balancing the yang and the yin.
