First, I would say that the megalithic monuments which the ancients have left us are a 'text' in themselves which we can 'read' through their geometry, orientations, alignments and so on. As to 'Atlantean' civilization, it might be that it had writing materials and media which have long since perished, not to mention the fact that many of its building structures would now lie under the oceans - this not to rule out the possibility that these peoples had psychical powers which we have largely lost today.
