Thank you for your response, and your fascinating theory. You might be aware that in Ancient Egypt there was a game by the name of Mehen, dating from about 3,000BC, the gameboard of which depicts a spiral in the form of a coiled snake upon which, possibly, counters were placed and moved. Mehen was played outside Egypt, including Cyprus and the Middle East, so your idea now makes me wonder if the Cretan Phaistos Disc was a derivation of it. This could well be worth pursuing.
